What is Players’ Placement?

GGS’s main goal and commitment is to develop soccer players at all levels. Players’ Placement is for all players looking for an opportunity to have a professional and high level training, while competing with and against other motivated players. To accomplish accurate and better results, it is essential we place players on a team suitable with their ability level.  In this case, Players’ Placement allow us to place athletes at the correct level of play in order to maximize their development.

Do I need to pre-register for Players placement (tryouts)?

Yes, all players need to register.  Just click the link below and register for free.

Do I have to attend all Players Placement (tryouts)?

Ideally, yes. The more the coaching staff gets a chance to evaluate your child’s ability, the more likely they are to accurately assess the players’ ability and assign them to the appropriate team.

What is the Players placement (tryouts) format?

All players in a respective age group will tryout together.  Players will participate on a technical warm up and small side games (if permitted by the State of FL and governing agencies), that typically consist of 4v4,7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 games.

What is GGS’s competitive program?

The Competitive program is designed to allow any player the opportunity to play a higher-level competition.  This program is for those athletes whose desire, natural ability, commitment and passion for the game, make them want to develop their ability to the highest level can achieve. The program is divided into three divisions:

This will make the players’ check in a lot fast and easier and guarantee that the coach has the correct contact information for your family. In case you didn’t have the chance to register online, you can also register at the fields or complete the pre-registration forms clicking the link below.

What do I wear and bring for Player's placement (tryouts)?

Players must wear soccer appropriate clothing. This includes cleats and shin guards, and bring a soccer ball and water bottle. Do not bring any gear with logos of youth soccer clubs/academies or professional teams. Players will be asked to change.

What if I’m out of town and can’t attend the tryouts?

You must contact the respective coach or club’s DOC in this case. The coach will invite the player to a training session or the player can be evaluated on one of GGS’s Summer Camps. Coaches must be able to see the players playing/training to properly place them to a team suitable with their ability level.

What if it rains?

In the case of bad weather, we will contact all registered players about make-up days. You can also check the GGS’s website to stay informed.

When do I know what team I’ve made?

A coaching staff will give the player a card to join the team and register. However, team placements will be made in an ongoing process till 2021/2022 season starts.

I have been identified to a team, what’s next?

Go to the check in table and register.

Can players play in an older age group?

Yes, we will evaluate all requests to play up. Players are expected to play in their age-appropriate groups. A year makes a big difference in the physical and the emotional growth of a child. For the most part, playing up can provide a good opportunity for the success and development of an individual player. However, during the tryout process, the GGS coaching staff will rigorously evaluate any players interested in playing up by their ability to do so and a team’s need. In addition, GGS staff will look at playing up on a player-by-player basis, taking the player’s development as our priority.

Can players play on a younger age group?

No, players CANNOT play down with younger players. For example, a player born in 2005 CANNOT go and play with the 2006 Birth Year age group.

What does Birth Year Mean?

Birth year means that players will play in the age group of the year of their birth. The Birth Year calendar dates run from January 1st to December 31st. For example, if you are born between Jan. 1st and Dec. 31st, 2010, you will play in the 2010 Birth Year age group.

Are there any benefits to playing Birth Year?

The main benefit for playing Birth Year is for developmental purposes. At the local level throughout our state, it will allow for better development because it will push individual players, raise the competitive standards, improve team competition and create more meaningful league games.
